July 7: Drive into Yellowstone

The water is muddy and moving after the heavy rain the night before.

The drive to Yellowstone through the Absaroka Mountains.

View across Yellowstone Lake to the Grand Tetons.

Our first geothermal feature...

...and what Sophie thought of the smell.  (Not sure how plugging your ears helps with the smell...)

Love the color.

Our first Yellowstone bison...

...and the traffic jam they caused.

It sure is a neat park...no where else like it on earth.

Max getting ready to check out the mud volcano.

Sophie reluctantly came on this "stinky" walk.

Mud volcano (used to be one...then it blew its top off)

Dragon's Cauldron:  now this was cool!  Bellowed and puffed like a dragon.

Max's war wound:  big sliver in his finger from running his hand along the rails.

Beautiful drive to the Canyon area.

Tom and I missed this part of the park last time - didn't know what we were missing.  Gorgeous!

Gearing up for the big waterfall in Yellowstone River.
