Sleepy Heads

I’ll roll the publish date of this post forward.  Wanted to try and document where we laid our heads during our journey.  (Yes, I know this is of little interest to probably just about everyone else.)

July 3:  The road was our bed as we drove through the night to reach the Badlands by morning

July 4:  Custer State Park.  Thankful to be able to set up the tent and stretch out for a full night’s sleep.

July 5:  Whistler Gulch just outside of Deadwood.  Surrounded by casinos and I was lucky enough to walk away a winner.  Also the first chance to do laundry.

July 6:  Buffalo Bill State Park just west of Cody.  The downpour and late hour encouraged us to just make do with finding a spot to sleep in the camper.  Didn’t set up a tent for the night but this was the view we woke up to.

July 7:  Canyon in Yellowstone.  More rain but we at least most of it held off until we were in bed for the evening.  First campfire of the trip (and first marshmallows too!)

July 8:  Madison in Yellowstone.  Rain…again.  We waited out the downpour and were rewarded with beautiful blue skies for the evening.  Explored the river that ran along the camp.

July 9:  Bridge Bay in Yellowstone.  Beautiful view over Yellowstone Lake and many bison visitors made this an interesting place to be in the evening.

July 10-12:  Signal Mountain in Grand Teton.  First multi-night stay means that we get to go all out and set up the rug and tables.  Steps away from Jackson Lake and centrally located in the park.

July 13:  Didn't think to take a picture of the hotel room.  It was great to have a shower and a soft bed for the night.  Relaxing evening and a nice, slow start to our morning.

July 14:  Elk Creek Campground in Grand Lake, CO.  The kids' favorite place so far because of the play set, creek, and play house.  They were very sad to leave.

July 15-17:  Jellystone of Estes Park.  We had planned to be here through the 18th but rain forced out early.  Great location just outside of town and Rocky Mountain National Park.  Kids were ecstatic to have a "park" and a pool.

July 18:  On the road.  Our last evening was spent driving home.  The plus side of leaving when we did is that we got to our beds one night early.
